They realized the foolishness of man’s ways and the deceitfulness of worldly riches. They came to know that only the will of God, revealed in His word is the enduring treasure. Jesus surrendered Himself, making Himself of no reputation.

“But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.” – Phil 2:7-10 (KJV)

He made himself of no reputation, holding onto and exalting the word of god, and so he was himself exalted to the position of honour. When we treasure and exalt the word, we increase in spiritual worth. Our submission to the word of God like Jesus did makes us precious and exalted spiritually.

After David killed Goliath, the giant’s sword was kept in the Temple. It was not different from other swords in the kingdom. However, when David was running from Saul, the then king of Israel, he took the sword from the Temple. From that day the sword became the sword of David; and though it was still not different from others, it was feared above other swords of David’s time; not because it was made of a different metal but by virtue of its user.

God would use you if you submit to His word.

“Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms.” – Jer 51:20 (KJV)

In the hand of the Master, your value in the spirit realm would greatly increase.

double edge

The sword is valuable to its owner that even when presented with another sword, the warrior would not dispose of his own but would keep it and prefer it above any other because of its value to him. If presented with a choice to redeem only one sword, he would redeem or save his own sword which because of its worth has got his approval.

Many Christians claim to have been approved or chosen by God, which is just a slogan because they have not surrendered to the word of God! Submitting to the word of God is the foundation to being approved or chosen; this is how you become a sharp threshing instrument in the hand of God

He is committed to and moved, only by His word retained by the individual in Christ Jesus.  It is His word that makes you precious! His word is His treasure!

“I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.” – Psalms 138:2 (KJV)

The word “magnify” means to make important, to raise in rank and power: to give worth.   God exalted or magnified His word! He gave more worth to his word more than al his names.

“But I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, whither they went. Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went.  And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.” – Ezek 36:21-23 (KJV)

But He treasures His word more than all His names. He desires His name to be hallowed yet would not permit His word to be trifled. Importance and value are so placed on His word that it is the only thing that binds Him!   If you were to go to the market and there see something without value, would you buy it? Certainly not? Surely, you will leave it alone. When God goes to the spiritual market and finds you there, empty of this value, His word, He would most certainly leave you!

“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.” – Romans 1:28 (KJV)

violin

I remember reading the story of an old worn out violin that was put up to be auctioned. No real value was placed on it until a master violinist touched it; he tuned the strings and with it played a well known classical song. Instantly value was placed on it and the worth appreciated. What happened? A master touched it. It was the touch of the master that supplied the violin its worth.    It was the touch of the master that supplied the violin its worth.

Many lives are out of tune today, battered because they have refused to treasure what God treasures, His Word. God expects us to “keep in memory” the word that His servants preach.

“By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.” – 1 Cor 15:2 (KJV)

Paul encouraged Timothy to “keep” that which was committed to his trust.

“O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called.” – 1 Tim 6:20 (KJV)

These are not just words for us to read and know but to “retain”, “keep”, “treasure”, etc.     The problem is twofold.

Firstly, most of our preachers give us the letter, which kills!

“Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.” – 2 Cor 3:6 (KJV)

They explain psychology to us in place of the word of God. Things that we can ordinarily learn at business schools, they pass to us as the word of God. Worldly issues are explained to us in Church with the Word as a reference! Just like home-videos designated “gospel films” just because they have “to God be the glory” at the end of it; whereas the actors, writers and producers are not born-again! The absence of the Truth; the mind or will of God in messages is responsible for the compromise and falling away of Christians and the seeming powerlessness of the Church.

The Children of God do not experience the peace of God because of this ignorance.

They may look the same, but are not!

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” – Hosea 4:6 (KJV)

Christians are easily intimidated and in bondage because they lack the Truth that should make them free.

Secondly, the effect of those messages on Christians is the increase in selfishness. We have become too full of ourselves, we worship ourselves, even when we are supposed to be in Church, we hold on to and think more of ourselves: our situations financially, our clothing, our trials, testimonies and achievement; refusing to deny self.

We really need to learn from the violin, a lifeless instrument, dead to itself. We should humble ourselves, put our education, achievement, and earthly wisdom, social and political status aside and in seeming foolishness, receive the simplicity of the Word of God.

David became a nobody, casting his crown and robe aside, to dance to God. Solomon called his acquisitions “vanities”, Paul called his achievement “dung”. Why?

They realized the foolishness of man’s ways and the deceitfulness of worldly riches. They came to know that only the will of God, revealed in His word is the enduring treasure. Jesus surrendered Himself, making Himself of no reputation.

In God’s plan or purpose, He gave each person a different ability or gift. We are not all the same and can never be the same. God knows what He created us to do as instruments in His hands. Like manufacturers of goods who produce to meet purpose or reason, God created you for His pleasure, not yours!
“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure, they are and were created.” – Rev 4:11 (KJV)

The reason or purpose God created you is for you to give Him glory by doing His Will, not yours! To present yourself for His use!

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” – Romans 12:1 (KJV)

Presenting your body to Him is your reasonable (REASON ABLE) service! This is the first thing; every other thing takes root from this!
You are an offering; to be willingly given!

IF willingly given to God’s will, you become His Ambassador, a “god” that nothing can overcome!

The forces of darkness will try, but you will, like your Father – God, laugh them to scorn adding: “YOU CAN’T!

WORRY THE SILENT KILLER!

worry 1

“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27  Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” – Matt 6:25-34 (KJV)

Here Jesus taught us not to worry ourselves, as on our own, we cannot change anything. He adds that something comes before worry; this something is the source of worry; it gives birth to worry!

“THEREFORE” verses 25 and 31, proves something precedes worry.

What is this thing?

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” – Matt 6:19-21 (KJV)

VALUE!

On what have you put value? Where have we put worth? What attracts or carries your attention? What do you hold dear in your everyday life?

Heaven or earth?

In HEAVEN there is love, joy, peace, temperance, meekness, gentleness, goodness, faith etc.

images-1.jpeg

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” – Gal 5:22-23 (KJV)

Against these there is no law; no evil can prevail against these!

The Settled word of God, His plan, is also in heaven.

“Forever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.” – Psalms 119:89 (KJV)

Here on Earth there are elegant houses (but can be destroyed through fire, riot, war); there are also powerful cars (but can be lost through thieves, fire, riot, war); we have designer wears (again they can be lost through fading, fire, thieves), is it expensive colognes and perfumes? (they fade).

wealth1 - Copy

All for honour, fame and power; encouraged and blown out of proportion by motivational speakers who instead of pointing us to heaven point us to things on earth; which if we do not have gives birth to worry.

A lack of heavenly focus plunges one into insecurity and uncertainty. One would seek to change times and seasons.

Things that have been concluded and settled in heaven concerning you!

This thought to change things you have no power to change is the cause of worry!

“Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?” – Matt 6:27 (KJV)

What you value is certainly where your heart would be; what you will think about all day, especially if it is something you do not have!

SIX STEPS TO STOP WORRYING

(1) know God places a high value on you.

“Look at the birds. They don’t need to plant or harvest or put food in barns because your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than they are.” – Matt 6:26 (NLT)

(2) Know that there is a plan for your life.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” – Jer 29:11 (KJV)

“ (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.” – Matt 6:32 (KJV)

(3) Know that you cannot change that plan.

“Forever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.” – Psalms 119:89 (KJV)

 wp-1470869002957.jpeg

Not even with your prayers can you change God’s plan. Ask Abraham, David, Jeremiah, Paul. Not even Jesus was able to change God’s plan for Him.

(4) Know that God cares for you.

“Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?” – Matt 6:30 (KJV)

(5) Have faith in Him.

“Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.” – Matt 6:31-32 (KJV)

(6) Keep busy with Him; the writer of your part or role in the drama of life.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” – Matt 6:33 (KJV)
